While people survived for thousands of years before smartphones and other devices were invented, now that people are using them so ubiquitously, it’s wise to learn how you can use these devices to keep yourself safe from harm and danger and keep harm and danger from finding you because of your devices.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three safety features to use with your devices, whether they’re devices meant for inventory purposes at work or your personal device that you use at home.

Passcode And Identification Features

Because so many people use their devices to access sensitive information or complete tasks that they don’t want other people to have access to, you’ll want to make sure that you’re protecting your device so that no one can get ahold of your device and try to use it for nefarious purposes.  One of the best ways to do this is by protecting your devices with a passcode or other identification features.

While it can be annoying to have to type in your password each time you want to unlock your device or have to get your face or finger at the right angle to open your device each time you want to use it, having these features in place can help to protect your device and any information that you have stored there. So if your device doesn’t already have a passcode or identification lock that’s turned on, enable these features now.

Location Tracking

Using location tracking on your devices can be a great safety feature for all kinds of reasons.  To begin with, if you ever were to lose your device or not remember where you put it, tracking the location of your device will make it easy for you to access it remotely and see exactly where on the map you can find your device.

Along with this, if you were ever to go missing with your device, you can make it so other trusted people can track your device’s location so that they can learn where you are and send the right help for you.

Remote Wipe

Another useful safety feature to have enabled on your devices is the remote wipe feature. Because so many people have important information on their devices, thieves will often try to steal these devices so that they can learn personal information, financial information, and more that’s just been saved on the device.

And if you don’t have the remote wipe feature enabled, these thieves can get this information as soon as they break into your device. But if you’re able to remotely log into your phone and wipe all of this information back to factory settings, the people who stole your phone just lost any and all information about you.

If you want to make sure that you’re protecting your devices and using them to protect you, consider implementing some of the safety features mentioned above.
