Learn how to find your car in a parking lot!
Most of us are more than familiar with this frustrating situation. You have just parked your car in a parking lot for the first time at work or some other place you don’t visit every day, and now you want to find it again. But where did you leave it? Relax, there’s an easy way to get your car back – no matter how huge the parking lot is.
When you are in a situation where you are trying to find your car, remember that the biggest problem most people have with finding their car is that they start looking for it too soon. The average person starts looking for his or her car about 20 feet from where it was parked – but it’s nowhere to be seen. This is because when you parked your car, you were facing in one direction, but now that you are looking for it, you’re facing another way. Take the knowledge that this change of perspective might confuse you and use it to your advantage!
This isn t where i parked my car -It’s not uncommon to misplace your car at the mall, but what should you do?
Most people tend to look for their car in a parking lot from left to right, going down each aisle. This is wrong! Go the other way – start by looking on the far right side of the parking lot and slowly move towards the middle. This might seem counter-intuitive, but it actually has a very good reason behind it: cars are usually parked in a parking lot from the outer edges to the middle aisles, and this way you’ll be starting your search on one of the less-used areas.
Remember that most people always go straight forward when they park their cars, so if you want to find them, don’t go straight! Go in the direction they aren’t – it’s pretty simple when you think about it.
Tips and tricks to find your car faster than ever!
- Park in a well-lit area.
This will make it easier to find your car, especially if you park in a corner or against a wall where someone might get confused and think that’s the way out. If possible, get yourself familiar with the car before you leave it behind. Many people suggest touching some part of your car for good luck – but even if you don’t, at least make sure you remember its position.
- Make sure your car is completely locked and all windows are closed.
This might sound obvious, but it can’t hurt to remind you. If your car is open and someone finds it first, he or she will most likely take everything valuable inside. This also includes leaving a note on the windshield saying “I’ve found your car!” – don’t be fooled!
- Take a picture of where you parked your car.
This might sound silly or unnecessary, but trust us on this – it’s the best way to find your car. Once you have your picture, you can look at it later and figure out where you left it. This has saved many people from hours of looking for their car in a parking lot!
- Write down the lot number and section, if applicable.
Most parking lots have their own lot numbers and sections, so always check for that information before you start looking! If you can’t find it anywhere on the ground or wall, ask the attendant at the gate. They will be able to help you. Don t panic and stay calm .
