1. Get out and explore
One of the best things about Pokémon GO is that it encourages you to get outside and explore your surroundings. Not only will you find more Pokémon by venturing into new areas, but you’ll also have a chance to discover some of the amazing places in your community that you might not have known about otherwise.
2. Join a team
Once you reach Level 5 in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to join one of three teams: Instinct (yellow), Mystic (blue), or Valor (red). You can join a team by tapping on the Team icon in the lower right-hand corner of the main screen. After you join a team, you’ll be able to assign your Pokémon to vacant Gyms controlled by that team.
3. Go to PokéStops
PokéStops are located at interesting places like monuments, sculptures, and public art installations. When you get close to a PokéStop, it will turn into a disc on the map. Spin the disc to stock up on items like Poké Balls, Eggs, and Potions. You can also get Lure Modules from PokéStops, which attract wild Pokémon to that location for 30 minutes.
4. Hatch eggs
Eggs are obtained at PokéStops, and they come in three different distances: 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Once you’ve placed an Egg in an Incubator, it will start hatching after you’ve walked the corresponding distance. The rarer the Egg, the longer the distance you’ll need to walk.
5. Battle at Gyms
Gyms are located at popular locations like parks, museums, and historical landmarks. You can battle at a Gym controlled by your team to try and take it over, or you can challenge a Gym controlled by another team. The higher the level of your Pokémon, the better chance you have of winning.
