Issues with Airpods Disconnecting and Possible Fixes
Today I will be providing you guys with my knowledge on the “Connection Issues” that have been affecting users of Apple’s new device, AirPods (the cool wireless earphones).
If your like me and came from the world of wired headphones then these issues may not bother you as much, but if one of your first experiences with Bluetooth was the AirPods then I’m sure you know all about them.
Why do my Airpods Keep Pausing
This issue has been following me since I got my AirPods. At random times, AirPods keep pausing for no reason. And the only way to fix that is to put them back into the case and take them out again. If you are facing the same problem with your AirPods, this article will show you possible fixes for your problem.
For me, the issue started after I upgraded to iOS 10.0.2 and paired them with my new iPhone 7 Plus . It’s been few days since then and I’ve realised that it is not just a bug in my phone as some of you said it might be on the comments here and there. So I decided to work with you and solve this issue.
I’ve read a lot about people complaining about AirPods sound cutting out, getting too loud by itself, being really quiet . This issues are somehow connected with the “pausing” problem I am having right now. The pauses happen randomly when listening to music or while watching movies on Netflix . And I know that many of you are also experiencing this issue.
How to fix the AirPods Pausing Problem?
First thing first, if your iPhone is under warranty, go to the Apple Store and ask for a replacement. Sometimes there are hardware issues with brand new phones right after an update, so it’s worth a try. If you are not, here are some things that can be done in order to fix the problem.
1) There is a small possibility that your AirPods were not paired properly with your phone in the first place. So make sure you’ve followed all steps when pairing them for the first time. If you still have issues, go to the next step.
2) Sometimes AirPods just need a fresh pair of batteries, so make sure they are charged and working properly by trying them with your Mac or any iOS device. If there is no issue on those devices as well, move to the next step.
3) It is true that iOS 10 has some issues with Bluetooth in general . After I’ve read one of your comments, I realised that turning off W1 might actually work for some people. So here is what you need to do in order to turn it off:
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and slide the toggle button next to “AirPods”. A pop-up will show up. Tap “Forget This Device”. Go back to Bluetooth settings, tap on your AirPods under Devices and turn the toggle button off. Reconnect again by turning the toggle back on (green). Go to Settings > General > Accessibility and slide the “Reduce Motion” switch ON. If you are using Wallet app, go to Wallet app and delete your current pass (if you already have one). Reboot your phone. Now it should work.
4) If this doesn’t fix your problem, it is time to reset all settings on your phone. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap “Reset All Settings”. In order for this fix to work, you need to enter a passcode, so make sure you have one set up. Although it erases all your personal data on your phone, this is the last thing that I can do if none of these steps worked for me as well. So try these first and let us know in the comments below what’s working for you.
Conclusion
In the end, all I can say is that these issues might appear on any Bluetooth devices, but it seems like Apple still needs to do some more work on making its products compatible with other brands. If you have a new Android phone for example and you don’t have Bluetooth problems with your wireless earbuds/headphones , all I can say is that there might be a difference between iOS and other platforms.
